Stress management. Such an important part of health. Why is it important? Short term stress can be productive. However, long-term sustained stress can lead to some negative problems. It wears down the body and weakens the immune system. It can lead to excess weight staying on. It’s important to de-stress daily. Here are a few of my go-to ways to de-stress:
Sit and take some deep breaths if I am limited on time. Just breathing is a simple way to get back into the present and de-stress some.
Walk outside. There’s something about nature and fresh air that helps stress melt away. If you’re at work and need to just take a few minutes, walk around the building.
Snuggle your puppy. If you don’t have one, there’s adoption events, you can walk one at a shelter, or maybe even your friend could use a hand with theirs! Maybe you can get some people on board and have a therapy dog come by!
Put on some relaxing music and breathe.
Listen to a podcast that helps get your mind to wind down. I enjoy the Ed Mylett Show, the Skinny Confidential, Leveling up with Natalie Jill, The Goal digger podcast, the School of Greatness. It’s hard to ignore some great inspiration or entertainment
Reading some of a good book.
Write and journal away the stress. Writing it out can help work things out.
Call a positive friend or family member you enjoy talking with.
Workout! (I workout at home so this option is free for me)
Dance party. Yes, I’m serious. When have you put on some awesome, pumped up music and not enjoyed dancing?! Never! So get dancing!
Now it’s time to finish my calming tea and get to bed. Good night!
